The production of short tubes with high productivity, flexibility and quality is the focus of weil engineering gmbh in Müllheim/Germany. The company founded in 1988 has perfected the design and build of roll forming and welding machines to produce finished tubes starting from blanks. A wide variety of laser, TIG or plasma weld sources can be applied for welding. The Weil Engineering product range covers tube dimensions from 25 to 1000 mm in diameter, up to 2000 mm in length and 0,2 to 3,0 mm in wall thickness. The Weil Engineering roll forming machines are NC controlled to allow a high shape flexibility. The welding machines incorporate a fully automatic, flexible and accurate clamping system for high product quality and a constant repeatability. Automation components are available for all machines allowing a lean production.
At the Euroblech2006 weil engineering gmbh will present their latest development the “ECOMASTER”, a manufacturing cell combining a roll forming and welding unit in one compact design. The scope of operation for the “ECOMASTER” covers diameters from 80 to 200 mm, tube lengths from 80 to 500 mm and wall thickness from 0,8 to 2,0 mm.
Special feature of the „ECOMASTER“ is it’s multiroller roll forming unit for tube shaping, which allows production of different diameters without any change parts. Therefore for any change of diameter you only have to fit a suiting tool in the welding unit and adjust the blank feeding into the roll forming unit. Change-over time for diameter change is only about 18 minutes, for change of tube length of same diameter even only 5 min. The welding system which was exhibited at weil engineering booth at Euroblech was equipped with a 2,7 kW Laser. Upon request, other welding sources can be offered as well. With the basic model, blanks are fed manually onto the infeed table, which allows a low-cost entry into the automated short tube manufacturing. With the option of an additional destacker the automation of blank feeding is possible; while feeding from one destacking position, the second destacking position can be refilled.
